More than 400 responses from children and young people across Cardiff have helped identify the issues they believe matter most for the city’s future. Through the “Have Your Say!” survey, young people shared their views on local communities, council services, schools and the changes they would like to see in Cardiff.
The strongest message was clear: children and young people want a cleaner, greener, safer city with better parks, more things to do, improved transport and greater opportunities for young people. Environment and cleanliness, play and leisure opportunities, education, community belonging, transport, housing and safety emerged as the most frequently raised themes.
These priorities will now be considered by the Children & Young People Scrutiny Committee during autumn scrutiny meetings and will help inform work programme setting for 2026/27. The findings will support Members in identifying areas for further scrutiny and ensure that children’s voices continue to influence decision-making in Cardiff.
