Cardiff Play Streets

Would you like to be part of the Cardiff Play Streets Community?

Can you remember the freedom that playing out gave you, learning to ride your bike, chalking, skipping and playing out with your friends.

Apply for a temporary street play order to close your street to through traffic, for 2 hours once a month.  Supporting children to play out together on their doorstep and for neighbours to get together.

Children play in a temporarily traffic-free street, running and scooting together while an adult supervises; a football and scooter are in the foreground, with parked cars and cones marking the safe play area.To make it easy for you and your neighbours to set up a Play Street, we will:

  • Help with the application
  • Provide a Street Play Kit, with all the equipment you will need to operate a Play Street safely.
  • Visit your first session to provide guidance and support
  • Provide a guide to risk assessment, recruiting stewards, liaising with drivers, answering questions about the scheme

For more information on play streets and to submit an expression of interest, please visit: Play streets – Cardiff Children’s Play Services

Resident organisers will be required to attend two Play Street meetings to support applications and operation of Play Streets sessions.
