September marked another month of meaningful youth engagement in Cardiff, with 26 children and young people taking part in 5 opportunities, giving a combined 80 hours of volunteering to help shape their city.
The highlight was the Cardiff Youth Council (CYC) General Meeting, where members contributed to important local priorities:
They were consulted on the new Education Inclusion Strategy, ensuring young people’s perspectives are central to how Cardiff supports learners.
Members engaged with Citizen Cymru to explore community organising and how collective action can strengthen young people’s influence on the issues that matter most to them.
Arthur, Chair of the CYC Task & Finish Group, delivered an induction session, helping new and existing members understand how the group works and how they can get more involved.
In addition to the general meeting, young people also took part in four scrutiny meetings, continuing their role in holding decision-makers to account and ensuring transparency across Cardiff Council.
A big thank you to all the young people who contributed their time, energy, and ideas this month. Their dedication shows once again the powerful role children and young people play in shaping a fairer, more inclusive Cardiff.”
