Zero Waste Network

A-Level student Divya Joshi submitted an idea to the Cardiff Ideas Summer Challenge (CISC) 2020, which will help shape the future of our city and make it a better place.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, she has spent time observing how much waste and packaging we throw away weekly, or even daily. She understands that “Many of us are looking to become more environmentally friendly, but do not know where to start or how to make a difference.” Divya has an idea that is a simple solution to this, to raise awareness of the facilities we have around us and the schemes that have already been set into motion at many council-run facilities, such as libraries.

She has come up with a plan to increase the awareness of the TerraCycle drop off points across the city and the awareness of available alternative recycling facilities. Child Friendly Cardiff are now working closely with Divya to support her in bringing her idea to life.
